To Walk in Darkness

I recently read Neil Anderson write that to cover up anything is to walk in darkness. We wonder why we struggle with sin and the enemy…because we walk on the edge of darkness…we don’t think we’re really there but yet we conceal…we mask…we choose not to disclose…(Acts 24:16).

And this is not just to our spouse or our friends…this is also to God. Even though all this is laid bare before his eyes (Hebrews 4:13)…we just let it go…pretend it doesn’t exist.

Anderson also stated that the Greek word for confess (homologeo) means to agree…to agree with God. To agree that he is right and we’re not…not to just be sorry…sorry I got caught or sorry your feelings are hurt or sorry you took it that way…no, it is to agree we sinned.

It’s difficult to live forgiven when we haven’t even agreed that we need to be…

I always know when it’s time for a good heart-felt confession. It’s usually when I hear myself saying, “Don’t look at me, Lord.”

This is the most needed message in American culture if you ask me…

Most people know Jesus died for them…

    But few know why…

The truth is without the blood of Jesus… no one would be saved… we would all perish in hell…

Really believing that means confessing… and forsaking sin… not leaving a place for it…

Oswald Chambers spoke of the cross… and the two great things it shows…

#1 An utter vengeful hatred of God for sin… 2 Peter 2:3-5

#2 An utterly merciful God for those who have sinned… Romans 8:32

Faith is seeing both sides of this the way God sees it…

Walking in darkness is not seeing the light of truth in the gospel…

Conversion implies a “new way” of seing things like sin, and the need to confess and receive forgiveness…

If we believe this it should be a way of life…otherwise we walk in darkness…

    Great post, needed message…

hope…at least you realize that…many of us act like he’s not there.

avery…i don’t think we have a culture (believer or otherwise) that is in loving submission…i think it is more one of compliance. we see it with husbands to god, wives and children…everyone wants independence.

    independence…arrogance…pride…they’re all so closely aligned.

I see what you mean Michael…
